La Sportiva Mountain Cup Trail Running Race Series

The La Sportiva Mountain Cup enters its ninth year stronger than ever with six trail running races on the docket. Beginning March 12, 2016 in Sausalito, CA at the Marin Ultra Challenge, the La Sportiva Mountain Cup is a six race trail running series. It brings participants to some of the most challenging and scenic trails in North America. Since its inception in 2008, the La Sportiva Mountain Cup has attracted elite athletes, back of the pack enthusiasts, and everyone in between to hand-picked locations spanning the country.

“We created the La Sportiva Mountain Cup nine years ago. It highlights the most interesting trail runs in the country,” says La Sportiva North America president Jonathan Lantz. “Since then, the series has grown significantly with more racers and bigger prizes. From elite athletes to weekend warriors, we’re proud of the community and comradery that Mountain Cup races create.”

The focus of the 2016 Series will be on maintaining a high quality experience for runners. They are for all abilities on scenic and exciting trail running across the United States. It ranges in distances from 10K to marathon. This year, the calendar includes six races, five regional races with cash purses of $3,000 and a grand prize purse of $10,000 at the North American Mountain Cup Championships at the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase in Park City, Utah.

For the 2nd year, Farm to Feet, makers of 100% American socks, has signed on as a series partner. They are providing “sock drawers” consisting of ten socks to winning participants as well as socks to attendees who demo La Sportiva footwear at the events.

Clif Bar also continues its support as the Official Nutrition Sponsor for the 2016 La Sportiva Mountain Cup. Because of their commitment to the Series, each participant will be provided with CLIF SHOT BLOKS and SHOT GELS in their race bags. Trail Runner Magazine has officially signed on as the Media Sponsor for the Mountain Cup Series while Soles4Souls continues as the social responsibility partner for 2016.
