Meteor Shower 12-13 Dec: How, When and Where. Watch it yourself. An astromoner explains.

Shooting star! Whoa! Make a wish! Make a wish! No doubt, we have heard this dialogue many times in our life.

Well, I think you should compile the list of all wishes that you would like to make. I’m not joking! I’m talking about the meteor shower.

In raw terms, Meteor shower is the time when you see lots of shooting stars.

Mark the date on your calendar. Its on 12th-13th December night. Get ready! Little bit of scientific knowledge is coming your way.


The meteor shower in Dec. month is called as the Geminids meteor shower. The standard rate meteor shower is 180zhr. I means you can see 180 shooting stars per hour. Wait! Wait! Indeed that’s amazing. And cherry on the top of the ice-cream is, you can see it by naked eyes. Yeah! You read it right. You don’t need telescopes.

Wait! Wait! Don’t get too excited. You have get out of city to see maximum number of shooting stars. The light pollution in the city affects a lot.
