Travelling to Punjab or Rajasthan? I have shortlisted the best towns or tourist places to visit on their trip:
Punjab doesn’t offer much for a tourist except Amritsar. Its mainly good countryside one gets to experience while you travel within Punjab, but the cities are quite similar to Amritsar without much of history or sites to explore. You’ll get to see some Gurudwara’s (Sikh Temples) in each city with history attached but nothing more than that. At best, you can visit Chandigarh, which has a lake, a rock garden, historic architectural building and a brilliantly designed city. But this usually fascinates the local tourist only.
If you plan to be in Amritsar do not forget to be at Wagah border. It’s like a ceremony to be watched.
On the other side, Rajasthan is the go to destination. It’s the state most visited by foreign tourists and everything there has now become a tourist attraction. The highlights – Pushkar, Jodhpur, Ranakpur & Kumbhalgarh (enroute visits), Udaipur – a must (my favourite), Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Mandawa and the list goes on.
Jodhpur & Udaipur should be on top of your list. These are the next best cities in Rajasthan after Jaipur and offer something different. Rest are also interesting, and as you’ll read more about them, you’ll figure out want to visit.
if you like wild life then go to Ranthambor national Park and Alwar (Sariska National Park) and if you like birds then visit Bharatpur
Feel free to contact if you need any help on planning the itinerary.
