15 MILES TO GRACELAND, Roanoke Rapids, NC

Tuesday, January 28, 2014Hey Everyone…I know I said in the last post that I was going to wait till I arrived in NC to post…but I’m too excited!

I don’t know if you’re like me but sometimes in life I can’t see beyond the horizon and faith is tested. These are the times we must be still and not react through emotion. Earlier there have been reports of some snow touching down on the South East. Well by the time I talked to a bunch of different people the 6 inch storm sounded like a blizzard out of the mouth of folks. This type of nonsense makes one fear when they are traveling on foot.

I grew up in an average of a foot a snow twice a winter

. We worried when we heard reports if two feet being dropped like in 2009, not when it was under ten. So I began feeding into this fearful energy and I was losing faith or more like trying to take control again of the journey.

To some this may sound reasonable or normal but anyone that knows me knows that if your following the Most High then taking control of anything is dangerous…this is exactly what happened. I felt at first I needed to take control.

Now, don’t get me wrong there is a time and place for everything, even taking proper action. However, there is a time to be still and let the Universe take action as well. And we can’t do this while wanting to be in control all the time…how can we expect to reap the great benefits?

Knowing this I calmed down and trusted that the greater purpose would be fulfilled and that I would get a ride to NC. Am I in NC now…technically not but I damn close about fifteen minutes away driving. And best of all being still and trusting in humanity paid off. My new friend Mike kept his word, he came back to pick me up.

Mike is a self made millionaire, had a rough life but trusts in his Creator and now is able to help those less fortunate

. He also had some life changing experiences himself, e.g. He grew up in a prejudice south and never got the opportunity to befriend people of opposite races. He told me one time when he was in a jam and was about to get robbed a brother stepped in and helped him from getting killed. After that day Mike said his heart was sprung with compassion.

He also learned the generosity of others no matter the color or race. Today he is a successful business owner of a multi million dollar construction company. He tells me he still works with his employees roughly 100 hrs a week…figure that one out.

He has a beautiful wife and four kids. That is the secret of his success he tells me his positive attitude and having compassion for others. I rode with him for a couple hours and again between silent times and laughter I felt like I was with an old friend.

A friend of mine said we are like magnets attracting the energy of the spirits…after this past experience I believe it!

Peace & Prosperity to All!!!

This is a short update on how I’m doing.  I plan to write another full article with video and pictures tomorrow.   I’m doing fantastic!  And I hope you all are as well.  Sure I don’t know where I’m at (Philly) of course but I really ask every other person for help or for directions which is cool because some end up talking with me and laughing for awhile.

I wanted to mention a person who I’ve met so far who has proven that this city is generous.

However, before I go into that let me mention another young lady who has really stepped up to the plate on the generosity meter

Pat

.  Her name is Leslie Wray and she is from Virginia.  Leslie and I just met today actually, and she heard my story and wanted to help with my dream of opening H.O.M.E.  Which is an organization I’m starting when I reach San Diego, to help Felons, Alcoholics/Addicts, Single Mothers/Fathers, and the Homeless.  If you would like to learn more please feel free to send me a message.

I have set up a Go Fund for the Cause called “Hitch to Help.”

Thank You Leslie Wray for your donation.

Lastly, I wanted to mention that I am in Center City, Philadelphia, near the NJ border.   I was walking looking for a nice spot to relax and use the internet to write to you all when I saw a Whole Foods Market.  What fortune!!!  I went in for a bottle of water and some fruit when I noticed a “Sample Desk” the lady behind it was named Pat.  She offered me pieces of granola bars to taste and – boy I was hungry too!  I shared my story with her about hitching to the West Coast, plus starting the H.O.M.E. project.  She was so intrigued she offered to help me if I need it while I’m here in Philly and her generosity was awesome because she gave me a bunch of granola bars for my travels!  But the best part was I got a great picture of her so if anybody is ever in Philly say hello to this woman and you’ll love her positive energy.

Thanks Pat!

So that’s it for now…I tried to make it short but as for this writer I don’t believe in short stories. So I’ll be back tomorrow hopefully with an article on Philly. Till then take care and be well.

Peace
